Love and Lace Bridal Handkerchief

This week I needed a quick bridal shower gift. After researching the traditions of the bridal handkerchief (at http://tiny.cc/3gpnk )
I fired up my BERNINA Version 6 Software and got to work.

The OESD Platinum Design Collection #61001 Love and Lace was perfect! I brought in multiple designs from the collection and combined them with lettering from the software to create a one of a kind heirloom keepsake.

I printed the History of Handkerchiefs at Weddings, (from the website linked above) and added embroidered embellishment to my document – ALL IN ART CANVAS - to complete the gift.

The fabric was VERY heavily starched before embroidering. leaving no stabilizer to tear away, but the project does have
to be rinsed thoroughly.

The scallop border was created using the Pattern Run Feature in the software for a perfect finish (Pattern Set: Satin-Quilt, Stitch #508).
The entire handkerchief was then stitched out in the Jumbo hoop. The excess fabric was carefully trimmed away.

To complete the project with a smaller hoop: the items can be embroidered in multiple hoping, and the scallops can be stitched using the decorative stitches on your machine!
